for the Exchanged Life Chaplaincy certification

 

Congratulations on completing the previous assignments.
The fee for this practicum fee is $200.

A. Practicum Assignments (worth 10 hours)

1. Submit a copy of your certificate of completion for IFOC’s Chaplaincy course.

2. Research*

  • Research an area of chaplaincy (such as hospitals, nursing homes, shut ins, marketplace, police or fire departments, schools, sports teams, etc.)
  • Investigate PrayerStations.org

3. Interview a chaplain in person or by phone. *

Ask questions such as:

  • How they became involved in chaplaincy ministry
  • Their training process
  • Their perspectives on the chaplain’s role
  • Blessings and challenges they have experienced
  • Counsel for you as you begin this phase of your ministry

4. Assemble a literature and resources-to-share kit.*

    For example:

5. Prepare and present a “Three Cross Testimony” about your salvation (John 3:16), surrender (Romans 12:1,2) and identification with Christ (Galatians 2:20).

  • Listen to this Three Cross Testimony audio lecture
  • Read this Three Cross Testimony notes document
  • Send this testimony (written or recorded) to your GFI supervisor.

6. Write a 2-5 page paper on how you see the exchanged life (Galatians 2:20) affecting your approach to chaplaincy ministry.  Submit this by email to [email protected]

* give a verbal report to supervisor

B. Visitation

10 or more hours of chaplaincy visitation (such as hospitals, nursing homes, shut ins, marketplace, police or fire departments, schools, sports teams, etc.)

C. Supervisory phone or zoom calls

  1. Initial call
  2. After 5 hours of visitation are completed
  3.  After 10 hours of visitation are completed.
  4. Concluding call after all assignments are completed
