I have psychotic depression and had a total nervous breakdown approximately 14 years ago. They started me off on Paxil and Risperdal, and I improved. I even took a ministry at the church cooking for Wednesday night supper. The ministry was successful, but I wasn’t tuned into the Cross such as dying to self. I asked my doctor to please reduce my medicine so my memory would be better. He did. Soon I had a relapse and had to quit my ministry. I took seventy to hundred pills to end my life. My husband came in the room, and I told him what I did. He took me to hospital, and that started around six years of over medication . I gained one hundred pounds. Around six months ago, I had to get a new doctor. He changed my medicine, and I returned to church. The messages on Nehemiah helped me to let God start tearing walls down. The last six months have been about repentance.
I remembered your book, Handbook of Happiness, and even remembered the author so I ordered it. The book was a challenge, but I have totally surrendered to the Cross of Jesus Christ. I feel my wanderings were really God’s discipline in my life. Everyday has been an adventure walking with the Spirit in God’s resurrection power. Last week, I gave a book to the minister of care who’s retired; and today I have an appointment with pastor to share and give him Handbook. I feel God is doing a deep work in me emotionally; I am accepted in the Beloved!!!!!! I have so much joy even though there are numerous trials. The work that God is doing is permanent, and I look forward to my new ministry in Christ … Thank you for allowing God to use you to minister to me, plus the Holy Spirit. I now feel God will use me, too!! Love in Christ, L. V. |
