Earlier this year I was reading in Genesis, especially about Lot.  As you read the narrative, it seems Lot struggled between belief and unbelief.  Several times, he saw the power of God, yet his actions didn’t always match that belief.  Sounds like people today, doesn’t it?  The Lord told Lot he would destroy the city of Sodom and Lot believes, yet he seems to also struggle with unbelief. Listen to what Genesis 19:16 says, “But he lingered.  So, the men seized him and his wife and his two daughters by the hand, the Lord being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city.”

Why did Lot linger?  This makes no sense; he is lingering in the city that God is going to destroy!  Let me give you a takeaway, “You will never live in victory if you linger in unbelief.”  Nothing good comes from staying where God has said he will destroy!  Our vision at GFI is to guide people into complete and victorious identity in Christ, but if you “linger” you delay victory!

We see this same pattern with the Children of Israel while wandering in the wilderness.  Moses had led them out of Egypt to the Promised Land, and he sent spies to check it out.  They came back agreeing, “yes, it is just as God said!  It is amazing but the people are great, and walls of the city are huge so we cannot go in.” (A paraphrase of Numbers 13:27,28).  Basically, they believed God.  The land was great, but they struggled with the unbelief that God could gain them access.  Friends, do not let unbelief keep you from seeing and living out God’s full potential for you!  Don’t “wander” but “wonder!”

If you follow this narrative, you see that the people who didn’t “believe” didn’t see or live in the Promised Land.  They died in the wilderness.  Hebrews 3:19 states, “So we see that they were not allowed to enter his rest because of their unbelief.”

Thank you for your generosity!  Last month my wife, Carrie, and I spoke at a marriage conference here in Gatlinburg, TN.  We took Exchanged Life principles and applied them to marriage.  The response has been overwhelming, so Carrie and I are recording this content as an upcoming GFI resource.

Our next GFI seminar, “Finding Peace,” will be on Saturday, July 29th.  The seminar will be held in Knoxville, TN at NorthStar Church (South Campus).  The following week, we are hosting our Exchanged Life Workshop.  This workshop runs Monday, July 31st to Thursday August 3rd in Pigeon Forge, TN.  More details and registration can be found on our website, www.GraceFellowshipInternational.com.

If you haven’t already, please subscribe to our Podcast, “Glimpses of Grace.”  A link to the podcast can also be found on our website.

Please pray for Dr. John and me.  We will be traveling to Africa in the month of August.  GFI International is hosting a seminar together with a sister ministry named Curare in South Africa on Saturday, August 12th.  The following week, we will be traveling to Cameroon to teach over 1,00 pastors in Exchanged Life.  If you would like to help financially to cover the costs of flights, please call our office (865) 429-0450.

Thank you again for your prayers and support.
